| The 2205 and 2207
cathetometers are similar to the 2202 type, the main difference being that the column is
mounted in a frame which supports it at both the top and bottom. An additional feature is
that it is possible to have an accessory levelling screw (type 2257 or type 2258) to
enable the instrument to be used in a horizontal position. The column can be turned manually with respect to the base and this rotation can be finally adjusted by means of a fine thread tangent screw. A scale is cut directly into the brass column and the position of the telescope is determined by means of a vernier scale attached to it. These scales are read by a magnifier mounted on the carriage. The carriage is positioned manually on the column and can be clamped to it. Final height adjustment is carried out by means of a fine adjustment screw, which operates an auxiliary slide attached to the main carriage. The telescope unit is mounted to this auxiliary slide, and means are provided for levelling the optical axis. |
